About Aaron D. Valla

My Background

Since childhood, I have always been fascinated with the written word and the stories that are told through them.  I've known no other endeavor than the pursuit of refining my skills as a writer, as a thinker, and as a storyteller.  And though my professional life in the realm of English has yet to officially begin, I've spent my entire life preparing for a role in the world of the language arts.  As such, I've cultivated a distinctive and advanced writing style with a unique and articulate voice.

Experience

Work History

Dietary Aide, New Mark Care Center

June 2011 - December 2019

New Mark Care Center is a retirement community in Kansas City, Missouri.

Similar to a waiter.  Collected orders, delivered food, and assisted in clean-up afterward.  Cultivated a welcoming and friendly environment for residents.

Butcher/Produce Clerk, Sprouts Farmer's Market

February 2019 - Present

Sprouts Farmer's Market is a grocery story chain spanning across the country.

I've worked in almost every department in the store and have familiarized myself with each job intimately.  My main duties, however, used to be in the meat department as a butcher and meat clerk.  Dealing with sales, cutting meat, preparing meals, and assisting customers.  Currently, I'm a produce clerk where I stock shelves, unload deliveries and handle pricing.

My education at Park University has been recent but I have thus far managed to maintain a high G.P.A. and am well on my way to earning a Master's in English and a Minor in Education.  I have also taken an introductory course in history and will likely end up pursuing a degree in western civilization as well.

My Repertoire

The Not-Starving-But-Financially-Impaired Artist

Among many college-related academic texts, I have produced a litany of nonfiction and fiction works in my own spare time.

My most mentionable works:

  • Archetypal Criticism: A Bibliography (2022)

  • The Inspirational Method (2022): A collection of the most noticeable similarities between the work habits of several famous authors.

  • Fury (2018): A fictional short story about a man writing a mysterious and disconcerting confession letter in the form of a short biography that escalates into tragedy.

  • Warren: A Manuscript (2017): Manuscript to a novella.  After his disfigured mother dies and upon finding out the most haunting things imaginable about his lineage, Warren Glass, a young adolescent boy, resolves to escape the twisted reality his father has condemned him to: He has been locked in a basement his entire life.

  • Humanism and Happiness (2019): A short manifesto on the collection of philosophies that have assisted me in my struggles with mental illness.

  • Tears for Anathema (2012): A short story about a man languishing over his most recent failure. Written for a flash fiction contest, this short story was hand-picked, along with 26 others, out of a collection of 2,000 short stories to be featured in a horror anthology called "Endless Darkness."
